Casablanca Hotel Guide
Casablanca is not Morocco’s most obvious leisure destination, but it has some of the country’s strongest city hotels. The best place to stay depends mostly on your trip style: choose Downtown for convenience, Gauthier/Racine for cafés and restaurants, Anfa for a calmer upscale stay, Maarif/Palmier for business and shopping, or the Corniche/Ain Diab if you want ocean views.
For most visitors, Casablanca works best as a short urban stop: one or two nights are usually enough to see the Hassan II Mosque, explore the Art Deco center, visit the old medina, enjoy the Corniche and get a feel for Morocco’s largest city.
Where to stay in Casablanca
City center / downtown – choose it for the easiest first stay: The most practical base if you want to stay close to central sights, Art Deco streets, Casa Port, the old medina and major transport links. Convenient for short stays, but not the most pleasant or polished part of Casablanca.
Gauthier / Racine – choose it for the best overall urban base: One of the safest choices if you want cafés, restaurants, walkability and a more enjoyable day-to-day feel. Better than downtown if you care more about atmosphere than pure sightseeing logistics.
Maarif / Palmier – choose it for shopping, business and convenience: A lively and practical area with shops, malls, restaurants, offices and easy movement around the city. Better for convenience and everyday Casablanca life than for charm.
Ain Diab / Corniche – choose it for ocean views and a leisure feel: The best area if you want the Atlantic nearby, seafront restaurants and a more relaxed hotel experience. The tradeoff is that central Casablanca usually requires a taxi or ride app.
Near Casa Voyageurs or Casa Port – choose it for train connections: Useful for very short stays, late arrivals or onward train travel. Practical, but rarely the most enjoyable base for a proper Casablanca stay.
Note on Anfa: Anfa is a premium residential area, but it is not really a hotel area. It makes more sense for villas, private rentals or longer stays than for classic hotels.
Accommodation types in Casablanca
Casablanca is more of a city-break and business destination than a resort city, so the best hotels are usually chosen by location, comfort and purpose.
- Luxury hotels – Best for comfort, service, business facilities and a polished city stay.
- Boutique hotels – Best for travelers who want more personality, especially around Gauthier, Racine or the Art Deco center.
- Business & short-stay hotels – Best for short stays, meetings, train access and practical city movement.
